New year, yet another new chapter. After being home for a lovely three weeks, I am back in Berlin, sitting in my favorite cafe of all time (see above), soaking in last bits of the city before I fly south to Morocco on Monday.
This is clearly going to be quite the year.
Will it top 2013? The year I visited almost 10 different countries, lived in Morocco, Germany and went back to my roots in Minneapolis for the summer? The year I met some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life, discovered new passions, and developed a deep love of being on airplanes?
I do not have a plan. I don't have specific life goals with a map of to get me there. There's all of these articles being written about how to figure your life out as a twenty-something year old and I am getting so sick of them. No one else can tell you what you should be doing and in my opinion, 2014 is the year to shut out the nagging voices around you (including the ones in your head) telling you you can't do that. I'm going to go choreograph contemporary dance in Morocco instead of graduating college, like I would have this Spring if my travel addiction hadn't taken over. Some people say I'm crazy. I probably am. But no one is going to tell me I can't do it.
Happy 2014! Here's to the unknown.
You have to admit that even getting to write the sentence:
ReplyDelete"I am going to be choreographing contemporary dance in Morocco" is pretty amazing—saying that definitely, life will not be stagnant. Good luck with the travels, the landing, the next chapter. xo
Have a great year, Ruby. Soak up all the warmth.
ReplyDeleteThank you John! I hope your year is going well so far. Stay warm!
